Our CEO Jeff Dimery’s career advice? ‘Be yourself’
Our MD and CEO Jeff Dimery recently joined Sally Patten on the Australian Financial Review's ‘15 Minutes with the Boss’ podcast, where he spoke about his career at Alinta Energy.
Jeff said that his top advice for career success was that it was important for people to be able to work in environments where they were able to be themselves.
“It’s pretty hard to be someone you’re not, and to do that constantly, so my strong advice is to be who you are – be yourself."
"Quite frankly, if you find that in being yourself, you don’t fit in, then move. Go and find an environment where you can be yourself and put your best foot forward.” Jeff also shared his love for the show Ted Lasso, particularly relating to its title character’s infectious energy and investment in the people he works with.
“It’s not just about growing balance sheets, it’s about growing people,” he says.
The pair also discussed the state of the energy transition and cost of living, and how to manage conflict and deal with tough decisions.
