Annual Alinta Energy Toy Run
The 30th Annual Alinta Energy Toy Run has been held in Port Augusta Summary: The event is the longest running charitable event of its kind in the region
The 30th Annual Alinta Energy Toy Run took place in Port Augusta on 7 December, marking the longest running charitable event of its kind in the region.
The Alinta Energy Toy Run was organised by the Saltbush Motorcycle Club to gather toys, food and money to be donated to the Salvation Army. The gifts collected by the group will then be shared with less fortunate families in Port Augusta and the surrounding district this festive season.
Approximately 170 motorcycles took part in the event this year, including a group of employees from the Augusta Power Station. This year’s organisers remarked at the overwhelming generosity of the local community and businesses in making the event such a success.
Alinta Energy Employee Lloyd Elies commented on how the event showed the distinct difference between ‘bikers’ and ‘bikies’ who attract bad press weekly. “We bikers are just big softies who care about others less fortunate than ourselves and are willing to put our efforts behind the Toy Run”, Lloyd said.
