Changes to gas services in Albany

After a comprehensive review, ATCO has confirmed the Albany Gas Distribution System is nearing the end of its useful life. Rebuilding the ageing infrastructure would come at a cost that would ultimately be passed on to customers.

ATCO announced earlier this year the Albany Gas Distribution System will be decommissioned. This will happen in stages over three years, commencing in early 2027.

ATCO will work with Alinta Energy, your gas retailer, to make the decommissioning process as smooth as possible for you.

The WA Government is also working out how best to support households and businesses impacted by the decommissioning and will make sure customers have the information they need to make an informed decision on their transition to an alternative energy source.

The WA Government will share further information on the transition program, including support for businesses and households, as soon as it becomes available.
