Credit Reporting Privacy Code Statement of Notifiable Matters

This Statement sets out information about credit reporting. It is relevant to you if you are a customer of Alinta Energy Pty Limited (ABN 64 614 975 629) and/or its subsidiaries and controlled joint ventures including Alinta Sales Pty Ltd and Alinta Energy Retail Sales Pty Ltd (we/us), or if you have applied to become a customer.

In this Statement, credit-related information includes the following information about you:

  • information that we may disclose to a credit reporting body;
  • information that we obtain from credit reporting bodies; and
  • information that we derive from such information, for example, a credit score.

1. Information in our Credit Reporting Policy

Our Credit Reporting Policy contains information about how we handle your credit-related information, including:

  • the types of credit-related information we collect
  • how we collect your credit related information;
  • the purposes for which we may use your credit-related information;
  • how you may access your credit-related information;
  • how you may seek the correction of your credit-related information;
  • how you may complain about our failure to comply with our credit reporting obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act) and/or the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code (the Code); and
  • how we will deal with complaints.

2. Disclosure of credit information to Credit Reporting Bodies

We may disclose credit information we collect about you in connection with an application for credit, or other credit-related interactions with us, to the following credit reporting bodies:

Where we disclose your information to a credit reporting body, that credit reporting body may include that information in the reports they provide to other credit providers to assist them assess your credit worthiness. If you fail to meet your payment obligations in relation to consumer credit, or commit a serious credit infringement, we may be entitled to disclose this to a credit reporting body.

Each credit reporting body is required to have a policy to explain how it manages your credit information. You can contact these credit reporting bodies directly to request a copy of their privacy policy or for more information about the way they manage your credit information.

3. Overseas disclosure

We do not store or send your credit related information:

  • outside of Australia; or
  • to an external territory.

4. Your rights in relation to credit-related information

Under the Privacy Act and the Code, you have certain rights in relation to credit-related information we hold about you, including:

  • a right to access any such information;
  • a right to request that we correct any such information;
  • a right to make a complaint to us about an act that may breach Part IIIA of the Privacy Act or the Code;
  • a right to request a credit reporting body not to use credit-related information about you to determine your eligibility to receive direct marketing from credit providers; and
  • a right to request a credit reporting body not to use or disclose credit-related information about you if you believe that you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud.
