Yandin Wind Farm

Yandin Windfarm (a RATCH/Alinta Energy investment managed by Alinta Energy) is located about 175km north of Perth near the town of Dandaragan. It is Western Australia’s largest wind farm, with 51 wind turbine generators generating the equivalent amount of energy consumed by 200,000 homes.

Project overview

Due for completion in 2020, Alinta Energy is building Western Australia’s biggest wind farm using industry-leading wind turbines. The Yandin Wind Farm will be located near the town of Dandaragan, around 175km north of Perth.

Comprising 51 turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2MW, the project is expected to cost approximately $400 million and has been shaped by valuable input from the local community and local landowners.

The wind farm will connect to Western Power’s 330 kV electricity network via a new 10km transmission line and terminal station that will be built, owned and operated by Western Power. Vestas will operate and maintain the wind farm from completion of construction under a long-term service agreement.

Environmental benefits

The Yandin Wind Farm will help to drive more affordable and cleaner energy for Western Australia, and combined with Alinta Energy’s gas-fired power stations it will also help us use gas more efficiently.

That’s good for us, our customers and the environment.
