Terms and conditions for the "Alinta Energy direct debit" Promotion (Competition)

If you want to enter this Competition, these are the terms and conditions that will apply to you (Terms). By submitting an entry into the Competition, you are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

  This Competition is a game of chance. Skill plays no part in determining the winner.
2)Promoter DetailsAlinta Energy Retail Sales Pty Ltd (ABN 22 149 658 300), Level 13, 225 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000 (02 9372 2600) (the Promoter, otherwise referred to as us or we in these Terms).
3) LocationNew South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia
4)Competition PeriodThe Competition commences on Wednesday 15 July 2026 at 9:00am AEST.
  The Competition closes on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 12:00am (midnight) AEST.
5)Entry Method
  1. To enter, an eligible customer must successfully establish a new direct debit on their eligible Alinta Energy residential electricity and/or gas account(s) during the Competition Period.
  2. Customers who already have direct debit established on their account before the start of the Competition Period are not eligible to enter.
  3. Entry is automatic once direct debit has been successfully established and recorded in our systems during the Competition Period.
  4. Direct debit may be established through any available channel offered; including via the Alinta Energy app, MyAccount, online form at https://www.alintaenergy.com.au/directdebit or by contacting our call centre.
  5. Direct debit must be successfully set up before the Competition Period ends and must remain active up to and including the date of the Draw. Your entry is deemed to have been "received" at the time our database records it as such.
  6. Entries received after the Competition Period ends will automatically be deemed as invalid, including if the direct debit cannot be validated against our customer record and/or is no longer active at the time of the Draw.
  7. We accept no responsibility for late, lost, or misdirected entries due to technical disruptions, network congestions, internet bogeymen, mercury being in retrograde, or any other reason.
6)Maximum number of entries
  1. Each eligible customer who successfully establishes a new direct debit during the Competition Period on their eligible account:
  1. via the Alinta Energy app will receive two (2) entries into the Competition;
  2. via any other eligible channels (other than via the Alinta Energy app) will receive one (1) entry into the Competition.
  1. If a customer holds multiple eligible accounts, each direct debit successfully established on an eligible account during the Competition Period will be treat as a separate entry.
  2. If direct debit is established more than once on the same account during the Competition Period, only the direct debit that remains active at the time of the Draw will be treated as valid.
7)Prize Details
  1. There will be one (1) major prize winner, who will receive a $3,000 Alinta Energy Visa digital card.
  2. There will be twenty (20) minor prize winners, with each winner receiving a $300 Alinta Energy Visa digital card.
  3. A total of twenty-one (21) winners will be drawn in the Competition.

9)TransferabilityThe Prize cannot be transferred to another person or energy account, nor exchanged for cash.

                

10) Eligibility to Enter

  1. You are only eligible to enter (and win!) the Competition if you are an Eligible Entrant. You are an Eligible Entrant if, at the time of entry, you:
  1. are:
  1. a resident of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland or South Australia;
  2. at least 18 years old; and
  3. the account holder of an active residential Alinta Energy electricity and/or gas account;
  1. are not:
  1. an employee, agent, or contractor for the Promoter;
  2. a relative of any employee, agent, or contractor of the Promoter (being a spouse, parent, step-parent, sibling or child of that employee, agent, or contractor); or
  3. a former Alinta Energy customer who has cancelled their account, whose supply of energy has been cancelled by either the customer or Alinta Energy.
  1. We reserve the right, at any time, to:
  1. request proof that your entry is valid and that you are an Eligible Entrant (including proof of your identity, age, place of residence, or relationship to an employee of the Promoter); and
  1. disqualify any Eligible Entrant who:
  1. sets up a direct debit (where relevant) that does not comply with these Terms; or
  2. tampers with the entry process.
  1. If your entry contains an error or an omission, it is up to the Promoter's discretion to decide whether or not to accept it as a valid entry.

11) Notification and Collection of Prizes

  1. Winners will be determined by random digital draw conducted on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at 11:00am AEST from all eligible entries received during the Competition Period at the Alinta Energy Sydney office, located at address: Level 13, 225 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000 (the Draw). The major prize draw will be conducted first, followed by the minor prize draws, so that all Eligible Entrants have an equal chance of winning the major prize.

You do not need to be present at the Draw to win.

  1. If you are the winner, we will attempt to contact you using the details provided in your entry within two business days of the Draw. We may also attempt to contact you via phone.
  2. We accept no responsibility for failing to notify you that you have won the Competition if we cannot reasonably reach you during ordinary business hours.
  3. The winner's first name, last name and postcode will also be published on the Alinta Energy website as soon as practicable (within 28 days) after the Draw.
  4. Once notified, you must claim your Prize within 28 days. Any unclaimed Prizes will remain the property of the Promoter.
  5. If we cannot reasonably contact you, we may conduct a redraw and award the Prize to a substitute winner. If required, the redraw will occur at the same time and location as the original draws on Thursday 30 September 2026. Winners of an unclaimed prize will be notified in writing via email within 2 business days of the redraw and published (winner's initial of their first name, last name and postcode) on the Alinta Energy website within 28 days of the redraw.
  6. All decisions made by us regarding the running of the Competition, the Draw, and the determination of the winner are final and not subject to challenge.

12) Privacy

  1. By entering the Competition, you agree that:
  1. we may publish your name and other details to promote the Competition and our business. For example, if you win, we may publish your first name and suburb on our website, social media, or in newsletters, without payment to you;
  2. if the Competition involves an event, we may use photos or videos taken of you at that event (whether you are the focus or part of a larger crowd) for ongoing promotional purposes, without payment of compensation;
  3. we may use your personal information (including name, address, phone number, and email address) for future marketing purposes in line with our Privacy Policy, available on Alinta Energy's website at www.alintaenergy.com.au/privacy; and
  4. we may contact you from time to time, including by email, SMS, or phone, to keep you informed about our products and offers, even after your energy plan has ended, unless you opt out in accordance with our Privacy Policy or by using the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails.

13) Other Information

  1. We may terminate, vary, or suspend the Competition:
  1. in line with the governing laws of the state where the Competition is being conducted; or
  2. where circumstances outside the Promoter's reasonable control occur, subject to any written directions from a relevant regulatory authority (a Force Majeure Event). Force Majeure Events include (but are not limited to) acts of war, terrorism, public health event, or natural disasters in Australia.
  1. If we choose not to enforce our rights under these Terms or at law at any stage, that does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  2. Winners accept all risks, responsibilities, and restrictions associated with accepting and using the Prize. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Promoter and its respective related bodies corporate, officers, employees, agents, and contractors are not responsible for any loss, damage, accident, death, or injury arising in connection with the Competition.
  3. Nothing in these Terms limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), or any similar protections under Western Australian consumer law.
