Helping kids, backpack by backpack

Every child deserves to feel supported, nourished, and ready to learn. That's why our Community Grants Program has provided $24,712 to Backpack Buddies, an organisation making a real difference for kids who face huner and health challenges when school isn't in session.

This support couldn't come at a more important time. The Child Poverty in Australia 2025 report by the Valuing Children Initiative shows more than one in six Australian children are now living below the poverty line. For many families, weekends bring uncertainty, especially when school-based food programs pause.

With this grant, Backpack Buddies can help more children have a reliable supply of nutritious food to carry them through the weekend.

The team plans to reduce waitlists, reach more kids, and help ease pressure on families doing it tough. Each backpack of food not only supports children's health and wellbeing, it helps ensure they return to school on Monday fed, focused, and ready to learn.

We're proud to help fill more backpacks, support more families, and create better opportunities for kids to thrive.
