Marri Wind Farm community benefits kick off

Hear directly from the Dandaragan community about the benefits they’re already seeing from the Marri Wind Farm.

Sharing the benefits of wind power starts with a simple goal — to make a meaningful contribution to the communities we’re part of. We’re happy to share our first two community investments under the Marri Wind Farm’s Benefit Sharing Program.

The first investment is a $15,000 grant awarded for solar panels with a battery backup at the Dandaragan Community Centre. Rosemary Glasfurd, a community member speaking on behalf of the Dandaragan Community Centre Management Committee, said that “the new solar and battery system will reduce our energy costs and serve as a practical example of sustainable energy generation for our community.”

Our second investment went to the Dandaragan Golf Club, which has purchased a new mower with its $15,000 sponsorship, enabling essential maintenance as the staff continue to keep the greens in top condition.

We get that each community has different needs, and that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to a project-level benefit sharing program. As part of the proposed Marri Wind Farm Project, we’re already seeing that important notion in action.

“It’s about supporting local priorities and helping communities thrive as part of the energy transition,” said Linden Blair, Head of Power Development - West Coast, Alinta Energy.

We look forward to sharing more news in the near future about our community investments into Dandaragan through the Marri Wind Farm.
