Seeing community impact firsthand in Lithgow

A recent visit to Lithgow Community Projects gave Alinta Energy's Engagement Specialist, Darcy Wall, the chance to see firsthand how local organisations are making a difference for people experiencing hardship.
Meeting with the Lithgow Community Projects team, Darcy saw how an Alinta Energy Community Grant of $20,400 is helping provide food and assistance with everyday essentials to people facing financial challenges across the Lithgow region. The support will help individuals and families experiencing crisis, particularly victim-survivors of family and domestic violence, people at risk of homelessness, and families affected by rising living costs.
For many, support with groceries or fuel can help ease immediate pressure and provide some breathing room while they navigate difficult circumstances.
Darcy also had the opportunity to meet Joel Palmer, Specialist Homelessness Service & Practice Manager, whose dedication to supporting vulnerable members of the Lithgow community left a strong impression. Joel commutes two hours to the office — something that speaks volumes about his passion for the organisation's mission and the people it supports.
"Our teams works so hard to provide the best service we can to the people we serve, and we do this on a very limited budget. Until we have the systems and funding in place we need, donations like this allow us to give just that little bit more. We are very grateful," said Joel.
"It's always special to see our team connecting directly with the organisations and communities supported through our Community Grants program and gaining a deeper understanding of the impact these grants have," added Fiona Doultree, Alinta Energy's Community Program Coordinator.
