energy comes from.

Commencing in July 2027, Chevron will supply 46 petajoules of gas to Alinta Energy over a five-year period from across its equity interests in the Chevron-operated Gorgon and Wheatstone facilities, and the North West Shelf Project.
With Alinta Energy being one of the state’s largest gas retailers, the agreement supports the ongoing supply of energy to WA homes, businesses and industrial customers, and continues a long-standing partnership between the two companies which dates back more than four decades.
Chevron Australia President Balaji Krishnamurthy said he was proud of the crucial role gas projects play in maintaining the state’s energy security.
“Following almost a decade in operation, Gorgon and Wheatstone have become pillars of energy security for the state and together provide approximately 40 percent of WA’s domestic gas supply,” he said.
“The agreement is another demonstration of the way LNG developments, under WA’s long-standing domestic gas policy, have enabled a well-supplied domestic gas market, benefitting homes, businesses and vital industries.
“Natural gas underpins our everyday lives, from powering electricity generation to supporting the state’s world class mining sector, and we remain committed to delivering the affordable, reliable energy that Western Australians depend on.
“Enduring partnerships, like the one we have with Alinta Energy, are how that energy reaches homes and businesses right across the state.”
Alinta Energy Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Dimery said the agreement reinforced the strength of the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
“We’ve worked with Chevron for many years, and this agreement builds on a partnership that has consistently delivered reliable gas supply for Western Australia,” Dimery said.
“Securing long-term supply from established projects like Gorgon, Wheatstone and the North West Shelf is critical to meeting the needs of our customers and supporting the state’s energy security.
“This agreement gives us greater certainty in our portfolio and ensures we can continue to provide dependable energy for households, businesses and industry as the energy system evolves.”
