Sale of Pilbara assets to APA Group complete

Newman Power Station

Alinta Energy is pleased to confirm the sale of 100% of its Pilbara assets to APA Group (ASX:APA).

The completed sale strengthens Alinta Energy’s capacity to jointly fund and deliver its ambitious renewables and storage projects – including the 1 GW Spinifex offshore wind project in Portland, Victoria, and 900 MW Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro project in New South Wales.

Alinta Energy MD & CEO Jeff Dimery thanked the employees transitioning to APA Group with the assets, and congratulated APA Group.

“We’re sad to farewell an outstanding group of employees, but also excited for them.

“Their next chapter is off to a terrific start with the resources, vision, and backing of APA Group.

“We congratulate APA Group on their investment and wish them every success in rolling out their Pilbara ‘emissions mission’,” he said.

Alinta Energy’s assets and operations in South West WA, including its retail gas operations and projects including the recently announced 100 MW Wagerup big battery, are not impacted by the sale.

Assets sold to APA Group in the transaction include:

  • 200km of high voltage powerlines
  • 210 MW Port Hedland Power Station
  • 238 MW Newman Power Station
  • 35 MW Newman battery
  • 60 MW Chichester Solar Farm
  • 11.8% stake in 203 TJ/d Goldfields Gas Transmission Pipeline
  • 80 MW of further capacity under construction

More than great energy.

That's better™.
