We’re pleased to share that our Wagerup Battery is now operational, adding significant new capacity to Alinta Energy’s generation fleet.

The 100 MW (200 MWh) battery has been operating commercially since September.

Delivering Western Australia’s newest battery was no small feat. Challenging site conditions required significant redesign and remediation, including raising the battery platform and constructing substantial retaining infrastructure.

Despite the complexity, the team delivered an immaculate site and a critical piece of infrastructure for Western Australia. Throughout the project, people looked out for one another, kept safety front of mind and worked together to get the job done.

It was a tough project, which made thanking the team at a small lunch on site a bit emotional (in a good way). Every single person who contributed across engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, commercial, safety, legal, insurance and finance functions, should be so proud of what they achieved and the resilience they demonstrated along the way.

I also want to recognise our delivery partners and suppliers, whose efforts and expertise were critical.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who played a part in delivering the Wagerup Battery.
