Alinta Energy Welcomes WA Government Decision on Certification Timelines

Alinta Energy welcomes the decision by the Western Australian Government to delay the two Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) capacity cycles for generation, allowing investment to proceed while Western Power and AEMO work to ensure new generation can be dispatched appropriately.
“This decision by Minister Wyatt will pave the way for new renewable generation to be built in Western Australia in 2018 and shows the Labor Government's commitment to investment and growth in WA," Jeff Dimery, Alinta Energy’s MD & CEO.
In February 2017, Alinta Energy announced it had entered into a long-term (12 year) offtake agreement with APA Group that will underpin the construction of the 130MW Badgingarra Wind Farm in Western Australia. The agreement includes the purchase of all of the energy along with the Large-scale Renewable Generation Certificates (LGCs) generated by the wind farm.
The Badgingarra Wind Farm output will complement Alinta Energy’s flexible gas generation fleet and expand on our ability to provide clean, affordable and reliable energy for Western Australian customers.
