Garden transformation to be unveiled
Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Bunbury to unveil garden transformation
The Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Bunbury will unveil a new garden to the local community on Wednesday, 27 November, with the help of Garden Guru, Trevor Cochrane, Ronald McDonald House and Alinta Energy.
Alinta Energy has donated more than $27,000 of goods and services to transform the once desolate garden into a relaxing and serene space to be enjoyed by families whose children are suffering serious illness.
The makeover includes the installation of a new children’s cubby house and fort, new paving and outdoor furniture, a new lawn and over 300 plants.
The unveiling of the completed garden marks an exciting milestone in the partnership between Alinta Energy and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Alinta Energy CEO, Jeff Dimery, said the families and children served by Ronald McDonald House Charities face many challenges and Alinta Energy believes they deserve only the best.
“Alinta Energy has built strong relationships with the West Australian people throughout our 25 year history servicing the region. We understand the needs of the WA community and believe in the importance of ‘keeping it fair’ when providing an essential service,” Mr Dimery said.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities demonstrates this approach when providing an invaluable service to thousands of seriously ill children and their families from around the state.”
Ronald McDonald House Executive Officer, Alison Salmond said the makeover is a much welcomed addition to the Bunbury Retreat and will go a long way in providing families with an enjoyable holiday to remember.
“The new garden will provide a fun and friendly environment for visitors who want a break from the stresses of hospital and sickness, and enjoy quality time together as a family,” Alison said.
The makeover was a collaborative effort between Alinta Energy staff volunteers and local businesses who assisted with goods and services including the City of Bunbury, Benara Nurseries, Total Eden, Pristine Landscaping, Barbeques Galore, Soils Ain’t Soils, Greenacres Turf Group and Astro Synthetic Surfaces.
