Inaugural MobileGP Soup Kitchen
Alinta Energy supports the inaugural MobileGP Soup Kitchen
Alinta Energy proudly supported the launch of the inaugural MobileGP Soup Kitchen in Perth last week. Run in association with Western Australia’s Homeless Week, the event was held over five days with the city’s top chefs cooking gourmet soup to be sold to the public for $5. The initiative was successful in raising $9,164 in funding for the Mobile GP service which provides mobile healthcare to homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people.
Alinta Energy assisted in the success of the event by loaning the gas cooker used in the ‘Save with Gas’ shopping centre pop-up house earlier in the year. Many Perth based employees showed their support for the initiative by leaving their lunches at home and instead purchasing a soup for a good cause. Domenic Capomolla, Executive Director Retail Markets, also volunteered to be a ‘celebrity server’ for the duration of the busy lunch rush. In total over the five day period, the Mobile GP Soup Kitchen sold 310 litres of gourmet soup and 1,375 bread rolls to 1,500 customers.
Alinta Energy’s involvement in the event is part of the new WA sponsorship and community investment program. Alinta Energy’s newest sponsorship partner UnitingCare West Food Rescue also supported the event by transporting food and materials in their Food Rescue vans.
