Perth team make a meal for Ronald McDonald House

A group of eleven volunteers from Alinta Energy’s Perth office cooked up a storm in the kitchen at Ronald McDonald House Perth last week. Quiches, meatballs, lamb cutlets, salads and trifle were the orders of the day. Offering their culinary skills for a cause were members of staff from the Marketing, West Coast Retail and Customer Service teams.

After a few busy hours of slicing, dicing, frying, baking, serving, cleaning and laughing, the team sat down with the families to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

The Make a Meal Program involves a team of volunteers providing all the ingredients for a two course dinner and then cooking it on-site. Not having to worry about what is for dinner may seem like a small concern to most, but eliminating this chore allows families the chance to concentrate on what is most important – spending time with their ill children. Ronald McDonald House provides a home for families with sick children who are often uprooted from their normal lives with little warning, and can spend weeks or even months many thousands of kilometres from their own homes.

The families judged both the meal and experience a resounding success and after such a rewarding evening another date is being scheduled for August 2013.
