With major flooding impacting communities in NSW and Queensland, we’re working with our partners that are already on the ground helping those in need. Many of these communities have been through so much in recent times with bushfires, floods and of course the economic and social impact of COVID-19.
Foodbank, our long-term community partner, is working directly with government relief initiatives and they are the official emergency food relief charity. Foodbank estimates there are around 300,000 people needing food relief due to the floods. The main food items required are bottled water and non-perishable food.
Every dollar donated to Foodbank equals two meals. Alinta Energy has made a donation of $250,000 to support their important work; the equivalent of half a million meals. For those interested in making a donation the link is available here.
Foodbank’s role will be even more important in the days, weeks and months ahead as the 'long tail' that they've seen on previous flooding events means many people will be struggling for a sustained period. Thousands of new clients are coming into the Foodbank system and they need to make sure they have sufficient supplies for all.
We have also made a $10,000 donation to Pinchapoo to help them continue their great work supplying sanitary and personal products to people in need. Our donation will provide over 500 Family Emergency Sanitation Packs. You can find out more about Pinchapoo here: Get Involved – Pinchapoo.
If you’re an Alinta Energy customer that has been impacted by the flooding, we’re here to help and will look to provide immediate assistance. Please call 13 37 02 and ask for our hardship team or visit alintaenergy.com.au/hardship.
Thank you to our amazing community partners for their tireless work!
