You know that it’s got everything going for it – trendy brunch spots, hipster bars and without a doubt the best beaches in the city.
So let’s take a look at what you can expect from your new life north of the river.
You know you’re about to be absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches, right?
South hasn’t got a patch on north when it comes to white sandy beaches and azure blue waves lapping at the shore.
Pretty much the whole strip of coastline from Cottesloe to Two Rocks is filled with gorgeous, pristine beaches, from crowded favourites to hidden local gems.
Our favourite spots to have a dip in the Indian Ocean include Cottesloe, Scarborough, Mettam’s Pool
, Sorrento, Hillarys, Mullaloo, Burns Beach, and Yanchep Lagoon.
Eating & Drinking
Where do we even start with this one? If going out is your thing, you can’t go wrong when you live north.
Subiaco and Northbridge are firm favourites when it comes to the food and drink scene in Perth, with too many places to name!
A little further out of the city outskirts you’ll find hotspots like Mount Lawley, North Perth, Hillarys Boat Harbour
, City Beach and Mindarie Marina.
And when it comes to wine, you can’t beat a day out in the Swan Valley
, tasting some fabulous local wines and produce.
Park & Nature Reserves
Yeah, we know that south of the river has some incredible nature spots, but you know what it doesn’t have?
OK, OK, it’s only JUST north of the river, but we’re still going to claim it for the north. It’s one of the biggest inner city parks in the world. At 990 acres in total, it’s 100 acres larger than New York’s iconic Central Park.
If heading out for a brisk walk in bushlands, or around lakes, you’ve got your pick of the bunch - Lake Monger, Lake Joondalup, Whiteman Park
, Lake Gwelup and Yanchep National Park to name a few.
Coastal walks more your thing? There are coastal paths all along the coastline from Cottesloe all the way to Burns Beach and beyond.
We’ve also got several popular dog beaches too, perfect for your furry friend.
Love to shop ‘til you drop? North of the river has you covered there as well.
There are heaps of local shopping centres, but head to Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Westfield Whitford City or Lakeside Shopping Centre in Joondalup (accessible by train as well as car), and you’re sure to find something you just have to have.
You know what else we have? Perth’s only IKEA. No more trekking across the river to stock up on your favourite Scandinavian furniture you never knew you needed!
Bet you can’t wait to move north now!
