Accurately track your energy usage
EVs use a lot of energy — about 2,000 kWh per year^. For context, the average Australian household uses about 6,100 kWh annually, so your EV could increase your electricity usage by one-third.

We've got honest answers
You will need to provide proof of EV ownership (registration number and state of registration) and a residential address with a smart meter installed.
Yes. A remotely-read smart meter is required so your electricity usage — especially during super off-peak hours — can be accurately measured.
You can check whether you have a smart meter by looking at the front of your electricity meter — smart meters have a digital display rather than a dial. If you're unsure, you can contact Alinta Energy and we can confirm it for you.
Yes. HomeEV works alongside solar panels and home batteries. Your solar system will continue to generate and export energy during the day, and you can still take advantage of the low super off-peak EV charging rate overnight.
You can still charge outside super off-peak times, but rates will differ. Review your energy plan details for rates specific to your area.
For the best savings, charge between 12am and 6am.
A Reasonable Use Policy applies to this plan. Our HomeEV plan is designed to support everyday, at-home EV charging. If we notice electricity use during the super off-peak period that seems unusually high or outside what we'd expect for typical home charging, we may need to move you to our Standing Offer plan. If that ever happens, we'll always get in touch first and provide written notice before making any changes.
