Alinta Energy partners with leading engineering academy to support STEM education

We're partnering with ATSE to deliver hands-on STEM education to regional schools in support of Australia’s energy transition.

This year marks a milestone for the Alinta Energy Community Development Fund – five years of supporting organisations that create lasting change for people, communities and the environment.

Since its launch, the fund has provided more than $1.4 million in support, enriching the lives of everyday Australians and helping to address challenges such as social disadvantage, energy poverty and environmental sustainability.

As we look beyond our five-year anniversary, we’re proud to share the next chapter of our partnerships. Following a review process with our Community Development Fund Committee, we’ll be continuing our long-standing support for Conservation Volunteers Australia and The Salvation Army, while welcoming a new partner, OzHarvest. These partnerships, spanning the next three to five years, will strengthen our efforts where they matter most.

Conservation Volunteers Australia – Continuing since 2020

Together with Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), we’re restoring biodiversity, strengthening communities and supporting reconciliation. In FY25 alone, our people planted 805 native trees, removed 125 kilograms of litter, and restored more than 3,500 square metres of habitat. This hands-on work reflects our shared commitment to protecting the environment for generations to come.

The Salvation Army – Continuing since 2020

Our partnership with The Salvation Army focuses on supporting people experiencing energy poverty. Through initiatives such as the Doorways Program, we aim to provide urgent financial relief to more than 1,200 families and individuals over the next three years.

The need is urgent: today, 3.3 million Australians live below the poverty line, with many facing utility disconnections or going without light and warmth. By working together, we’re helping to ease these pressures and offer support during tough times.

OzHarvest – New in 2025

We’re excited to welcome OzHarvest as a new partner. For 20 years, they’ve been on a mission to “nourish our country,” rescuing surplus food and delivering more than 300 million meals to people in need. With 100,000 tonnes of food saved from landfill and 1,500 charities supported, OzHarvest is tackling food insecurity and food waste head-on. Our partnership will back their efforts across food rescue, education and advocacy.

Looking ahead

Whether through the financial support of the Alinta Energy Community Development Fund, or the collective action of our people volunteering, fundraising or championing these causes, we’re proud to stand alongside these incredible organisations. Together, we can continue to make a real difference for people, communities and the environment.
