What is HelpPay

HelpPay is a payment app that allows customers to upload their bills and create a secure link to a payment page that they can then share with their family and friends and ask for their support in paying it.

It’s a great solution for those in need of short-term financial help, people looking out for their elderly or vulnerable family members, housemates who split bills, or to help make sure loved ones don’t fall behind while getting back on their feet.

HelpPay is an Aussie company that began in the middle of the pandemic, with the mission to provide those who need help a hassle-free way to ask and empower those who want to help with a simple, transparent, and secure way to do so. As of the end of 2022, they have over 13,000 users that have received help with over $1 million on their bills.

How does it work?

HelpPay works with any bill that has a BPAY payment option – which our bills do. Once you’ve entered all the necessary details, the app creates a unique payment page with a secure link that you can then share with your family, friends, and support network.

When someone completes a payment via the link, you’ll get a notification for how much has been paid and who paid it (though there are anonymous options), and the person who paid it will get a receipt. After each payment, the amount left outstanding is updated, so the next person to help will only ever see how much is left to pay. Once the full amount needed has been paid, the page link is locked so there won’t be any overpayments.

Using BPAY ensures that all the money paid to the bill via the secure link will go straight to the business it’s owed to – so you know exactly where all the money is going.
