We understand the critical role that energy plays in the everyday lives of Australians. Here we’ll break down what’s happening in the energy market, how this might impact you and offer additional support and ways to get in touch.
Wholesale energy costs, which account for a significant portion of your bill, have risen significantly in 2022 (driven by global energy price rises and local supply and demand pressures).
Our standing offer rates (which include the Victorian Default Offer in Victoria and the Default Market Offer in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia) have increased as of the 1 July. The Victorian and federal governments have released their advice about these rates, and we will increase our standing offers in line with that advice.
We’re reviewing our market offers. Rest assured, we will provide customers with advanced notice of any change. Impacted customers will receive a bill change alert prior to any variation occurring which will be tailored to their personal circumstances (for example fuel type, distribution area, rate change comparison, tariff structure etc).
Your energy bills consist of two types of costs – fixed (costs you can’t control) and non-fixed costs (costs you can control).
