Which customers do these changes impact?

These changes will impact all Alinta Energy residential and business customers whose price is based on the standard tariff.

Why are prices going up?

  • The new tariff and fee changes are reflective of CPI of 1.3% (National Average CPI).
  • CPI measures the change over time in the prices paid for consumer goods and services. The annual percentage change in CPI is used as a measure of inflation. Most industries review CPI changes and increase costs by a minimum of CPI.
  • Alinta Energy is conscious of cost-of-living pressures for WA residents and, therefore, is pleased that this is a minimal increase which is reflective of CPI.
  • Natural gas continues to remain competitively priced - despite this increase, gas remains one of the cheapest energy sources for households.

What are the fees and charges that are changing?

  • From 1 July 2019, the Account Service Fee will also be increased by CPI (1.3%).
  • Other fees and charges will be changing:
    • overdue fee (from $8.50 to $8.60)
    • Meter Testing Fee (from $200.00 to $215.70)
    • special meter reading fee (from $20.00 to $20.70)
    • booked meter reading fee (from $20.00 to $73.45)
    • works cancellation fee (from $172.90 to $179.20)
    • multi-dwelling connection fee (from $172.90 to $175.20)
    • commercial connection fee (from $690.00 to $699.15)
    • meter removal fee (from $127 to $128.45).

What is the Account Service Fee for?

  • The ‘Account Service Fee’ covers some of the cost of servicing and managing your account, and ensures you continue to benefit from our local customer service team.

Will gas prices change again in the near future?

  • We are here to help. Call us on 13 13 58 to discuss your situation.
  • If necessary, we can give you more time to pay as a short-term solution.
  • To make budgeting easier for you, we can set up a payment plan such as Bill Smoothing, which allows you to pay a fixed amount each month towards your gas bill.
