Factors that influence high bills
Having a great energy plan is an important first step in minimising your energy costs but there are other factors that can lead to higher bills.
Residential and small business customers can access the many self-service options in MyAccount. You pay and download bills, set up direct debit, monitor your usage, and manage your account details.
You can set up Direct Debit in one of four ways:

You can download a Direct Debit form for your small business here.
Once you are logged in to MyAccount, select ‘Overview’ in the top navigation bar and the account you would like to set up direct debit for. You can find ‘Setup a direct debit’ in the ‘Online Services’ box. Once selected a new tab will open and prompt you to provide details including your bank or credit card information. The amount due will be debited on the due date. You'll still receive a bill, so you can keep track of your energy consumption, along with a message confirming the automatic payment.

You can use our app to manage your bills and make payments. To pay a bill:

PayPal supports payments via bank transfer, credit card, debit card and AMEX. Log into your PayPal account to complete the payment. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can sign up for one today. Learn more about PayPal.
Log on to your online bank account and choose the BPAY option. To pay your gas bill using BPay, you’ll need our biller code 168930 and your payment number, located in the bottom right-hand corner of your bill. If you don’t have online banking, please contact your bank or financial institution to make a payment from your cheque, savings, debit, credit card or transaction account. With SmoothPay, you pay a regular fixed amount to cover your payments over the entire year. For those with a basic meter, SmoothPay is a great way to manage your energy costs. And setting one up is easy. Download and complete the form and return it via post, email or fax.

Centrepay
is a voluntary direct deduction service available through Centrelink. If you receive eligible payments from Centrelink, you can ask them to make automatic payments to your Alinta Energy account.
The quickest way to set up Centrepay is by logging into myGov. You'll need the below details when prompted:
Note: your electricity and gas accounts have different Account Reference Numbers.

You can pay your account with your credit card over the phone using our automated payment service. Simply call 13 37 02 and choose option 1 (existing customer) followed by option 2 (bill payments). You’ll be asked to enter your electricity or gas payment reference number. Your 11 digit payment reference number can be found in the payment options section of your bill
Alternatively you can talk to one of our friendly team members and they can process the payment in a secured environment while you’re on the call. To do this press option 6 (chat to someone).
HelpPay is a handy payment app that makes it easier for you to ask your family and friends for help in paying your bill, or to provide support for a loved one by helping pay for theirs. Learn more about HelpPay.
Take your Alinta Energy bill to any Post Office to pay by cash, cheque or EFTPOS.
To pay by cheque, just tear the payment options slip off your bill and post it with your cheque to the address shown on the slip.
By clicking “Pay with Card”, you will be directed to our secure third-party portal to process your credit card transaction. A credit card processing fee of 0.7% (inc. GST) will be added to your next bill for payment.

Bill Smoothing is an easy way to stay on top of your gas bills. If you choose this payment option, the estimated cost of your annual gas account will be divided into twelve equal monthly payments and taken out of your nominated bank account or credit card. You can pay your account with your credit or debit card over the phone using our automated payment service. Simply call 1300 360 900. Have your bill handy, as you’ll be asked to enter your bill amount and 10 digit payment number from the bottom right hand side of your bill.
Take your Alinta Energy bill to any Post Office to pay by cash, cheque or EFTPOS.
There is an Over the Counter (Bill Payment) Fee for those that pay their bill in person.

If you're aged 65 and over, or in our Alinta Assist program, you will be automatically made exempt and will not pay a fee.
Customers that hold a Health Care, Pensioner Concession, or Veteran Affairs concession card can register to be exempt.
